'Journal of a voyage from Britain to India on board the "Surat castle" Captn. David Isbitster bound for Bombay', 32 pages. The journal begins on 4 November 1797, and describes Mactier's journey via Madeira and the Cape to Bombay, where he arrived on 30 May 1798. The last entry is for 7 July 1798. Some sections of the text are in French, parts of which have been translated into English. The journal is accompanied by a one-page note about Mactier.

A letter in French written at Montpellier to M. Joseph de Montcanisy at Caen, discussing sending money to a Knight in distress, Hompesch's appreciation of loyalty amid treachery and his hopes of returning to Malta. The letter is accompanied by 'Royal Commonwealth Society library notes', no. 106 (October 1965), which includes the article 'Grand Master in exile', describing the circumstances of the document and including a free translation into English.
